YOUR MONEY, DAY TO DAY

How to tell whether a deal is worth it

A deal is useful when the product meets your needs, the total fits your budget and the comparison supports the saving. A large discount percentage is only one part of the decision.

Give the comparison a clear job

Before looking at the discount, write down what you need and your total budget. This gives you a way to assess the product against an actual need. If your fridge works and you are just browsing, waiting is an option too.

Separate three figures: the advertised price, the total you would pay and the cost of an equivalent alternative. The percentage on an advert does not replace that comparison.

  1. Check the model, size, capacity and included accessories.
  2. Add delivery, installation and any applicable extra charges.
  3. Read the discount terms, including payment method, dates and availability.

Use price history as context

When a price history is available, check which store and period it covers. A recorded low is an observed price within that sample. It does not establish the lowest price across the entire market.

Imagine the current price is ₡80,000 and the record includes ₡70,000. That fictional example gives you a question: would you rather wait, or do you need it now? The history cannot tell you when the price will fall again or guarantee that it will.

Compare quantity and final cost

Fictional examples: 750 g for ₡3,000 costs ₡4 per gram; 1 kg for ₡3,800 costs ₡3.80 per gram. The larger pack has a higher checkout price but lower unit cost; it is useful only if you need that quantity and the products are equivalent.

Another example: ₡80,000 plus ₡5,000 delivery is ₡85,000. An equivalent ₡82,000 option with delivery included costs ₡3,000 less. Check taxes, installation and payment terms.

A product you can verify

The linked iCon and iShop listings identify AirPods 4 model MXP63AM/A, also used in our price-comparison guide. MisterPrecios provides a product page for references and history. Match the exact code and accessories; AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation is a different version.

The links let you check current product information rather than establishing a live offer or stock guarantee here. Record date, seller and final cost. MisterPrecios history describes its observed sample, not the entire market or a guaranteed future discount.

Compare the whole purchase

Check who sells it, how you will receive it and who you would contact if something goes wrong. Save the advert and the terms you considered. MEIC includes the total price and additional charges in the information relevant to online shopping.

If the deal requires financing, ask for the total amount payable and the credit terms. A small instalment alone does not tell you what the purchase costs. When information is missing, ask before assuming.

Where Axi fits

Axi’s proposed experience with MisterPrecios helps you put the information in context over WhatsApp. You could ask: “I can wait. Is this worth buying with delivery, or should I keep looking?”.

The website shows an illustrative demonstration. If you are interested in Axi, join the waiting list; product access is not available today. You can also use this checklist yourself and return to the comparison once you have the missing details.
